Although it’s covered in snow for five-ish months, Madison is still a happenin’ little city. Nestled in the middle of the Midwest, it is still a mini-fashion “capital” of the state.
Two of my favorite places to shop are small boutiques native to the city. One of which was featured in an article in the Isthmus a few weeks back.
Twigs, located on Monroe Street, began as a jewelry shop on State Street. Coming from small beginnings, the store has expanded to include clothing as well as their famed jewelry offerings. In the future, the shop also hopes to offer footwear, which is what I am anxiously anticipating! A few of my favorite picks from Twigs are below.
The item I came home with the other week is a gorgeous black pencil skirt. I needed something for the potential job interviews in the coming weeks, and I had some graduation money from my parents. (Thanks Mom and Dad!)
The other store fashionistas have probably heard of. Bop, located at the intersection of State Street and Gorham Street, is more famously known as Shopbop.com’s brick and mortar store. I love finding fashion forward finds there, from Hanky Panky undies, Madewell jeans, and Marc Jacobs dresses. I’m guilty of scouring the sale items. In the past few months, I found…
…a great Marc Jacobs dress (please don’t mind the boyfriend in the photo)
…and Tory Burch flats.
It may be difficult to think that Wisconsinites dress in something other than down-filled coats, but we are quite stylish!
