Sometimes, I really love what I do. This is one of them.

I have never been so excited for Sundays until Girls on HBO premiered on April 15. It has easily become my new favorite series and has made me wish for Sunday evenings. Why, exactly? Well, I believe that the writer and star, Lena Dunham, may be the voice of my generation. She is putting into words a lot of the lost feelings I am experiencing and showing what life is truly like for twenty-somethings. While my life does not exactly mirror the show, I have still found that some of the scenes hit home. The struggles Hannah experiences of finding a job, the understanding that being twenty-four is the worst age ever, and the struggles with financing a semblance of a lifestyle are all things I have felt in the past week.
I know the show is on HBO, but the first episode is on YouTube for free. Yes, free. I’ve even linked it right here for you.
Warning: There is strong language, drug use, and nudity. I would highly recommend watching this from the comfort of your own house instead of work, the library, or any other public place.
My favorite character so far is Marnie. I feel as though I am able to relate to how she may seem she has things together, but really her life is actually a mess. By far, though, my favorite scene has been the hilarious shout out to Sex and the City right away in the first episode. Of course the other HBO show about four women was going to be compared to Girls, so I am happy it was done in a hilarious and outright way.
Are any of you watching Girls? Who is your favorite character? Do you ever fall asleep with your best friend watching Mary Tyler Moore?
