I am 100% addicted to my Smash book. I used to write in a journal every single day throughout high school, and I started getting into a craftier side of journaling by my senior year. I was excited to see that come back into my life via the Smash book, which I found through Pinterst (of course).
Here are some of my favorite pages, so far. I am so excited to journal again, and write about everything and anything through my Smash book.
Here is my Smash page for Alpha Delta Pi. I made a card with all of the facts of ADPi, and inside the envelope is also my member card and my card I got from Jewel Degree. Finally, those little things have a place.
I made pages for all of the sports team I root for (Wisconsin Badgers and Man U are on another page). I have a place to store my tickets, post cute photos, and explain exactly why I root for the teams that I do.
I made a page telling the story of Sam and I, as well as putting a pocket in the journal filled with post-its he has left me, photos from hanging out, as well as tickets from the Ingrid Michaelson concert we went to and the time we went to Wicked in Chicago (and he fulfilled a big promise).
I also made a page for Sigma Chi, as well as the hilariously funny things I have received/stolen during my time as Sweetheart.
This is what is taking up my time now. I love being crafty and creative, and I cannot wait to go out and do more with this.
I’ve been busy trying to catch up on all of the little things around my apartment. I have been cleaning for most of the day and catching up on my online class. Of course I’ve been watching a few episodes of Friday Night Lights as well.
I took today off, initially for the Packer’s Shareholders Meeting today, however the weather has been less than stellar here in Wisconsin for the past few days. I also have been feeling really behind in a lot of things (ie. class and home), so I took a day off from Mills and am getting a lot done today. I’ll be cataloging media for University Communications this evening, so I have that to look forward to. I’m pretty sure I’ll pop in a movie, make some pizza, and get going on that in a few hours.
It’s good to have a catch-up day like this, and tomorrow is going to be a great Friday to head into the weekend. I have Mills in the morning, a meeting with College in the afternoon, and my sister is coming into town for the beginning of the weekend. I’m also looking forward to a nice trek up to Devils Lake with Erin and Andrew on Sunday. I love Devils Lake so, so much.
I’ve really been busy making my Smash book these last few days, so I’ll be posting later on today with photos and ideas on how to start your own.
I do love me some Pinterest. That is no secret, whatsoever. I think I mention Pinterest to someone (more than likely Sam) at least once a day.
I found this cute craft project idea when I started using Pinterest. I knew it was an easy enough craft, so I finally got up the nerve to start working on the pillow.
I traced a copy of the state of Wisconsin from a Rand McNally map I found online. It was good to have the backlighting of the computer monitor to be able to trace the shape.
I cut out a blue felt shape of the state, along with a light blue heart to go over the city of Madison.
This is what it looked like after I hand sewed the heart onto the state and took the sewing machine through to sew the state onto the fabric for the front of the pillow. I then sewed on the back of the pillow, flipped the pillow to face the correct way, and stuffed it. There was only a little bit to hand sew of the bottom of the pillow.
This is the final product. I’m off to make Allison one this week. I’m pretty proud of how it turned out so far!
I am also in the middle of crafting another project. This is what it looks like so far…
…I just have to sew it into a square pillow case and write, in cursive “olive you” on it.
EXCITEMENT: Since I have gotten some AMAZING feedback on the pillow, I am willing to make TWO pillows in ANY shapes for my readers. Please comment with your name, colors of the state you wish, and why you love the state you picked. I’ll give you until Friday at ten p.m. to get your comment in!
