Reading and Writing

Today, as I was walking back from the bus, I had my book in one hand, keys to the apartment in the other.  It took me a moment to realize it’s the semester, and I’m reading books for fun.  This hadn’t happened very often at Ripon, and it’s nice to have time to catch up on the pile of chick-lit sitting next to my bed.  It’s also noted that the entire bookshelf in my room is filled with books I own for me to read.

I missed reading.  It’s hard to find time to get into a good book, and it’s difficult to do so especially when I was dealing with other life issues.  When Sam was in Europe, I cranked out a book a week.  Now, I’m going to challenge myself to that same goal.  I need to get reading new literature.  I need to get back into YA books.  I need to know what the new trends are (I’m going to have to read Stieg Larsson soon…), to be a marketable librarian.  If not marketable, per se, then at least an efficient and good one.

I was looking forward to coming home and blogging.  There is a large part of me that truly does miss writing.  I was always busy writing papers each week, and now, I have a paper due every three weeks or so.  It’s difficult to NOT have things to do.  I miss writing, and am completely in a paper-writing mood.  I want to do research.  I want to read articles.  I want to cite using Chicago citation (damn, having to go back to APA).  I just want all of this education-like things.  But I’ll settle for writing for my blog and reading some chick-lit.

Right now, I’m just cooking a frozen pizza.  It might be sad that I know that it cooks at 425 degrees for 11 minutes, but it just means that I memorize things well.  Right?

Read this book immediately!
